Nantes Travel Guide

Nantes is to be found on the western edge of France, close to the Atlantic coast and astride the River Loire. It does not have the same appeal as the major French cities although it is a lovely place to visit, showing as it does the ‘real’ France. With somewhere in the region of 275,000 inhabitants, the city itself is not enormous, though this is in part due to the occupancy of the more rural surrounding areas, since living in the city itself is not a prerequisite. Being quite small it is easy to get in and out of and this makes it a great place to visit since it is the ideal base from which to explore the area.
